The Linz regional light rail system is to become the most convenient, easiest and cheapest mobility alternative for people and connect the Mühlviertel and the city of Linz even more closely and in a more environmentally friendly way.

The Linz bus terminal has been redesigned and adapted to the latest operating standards. This modernised the infrastructure at Linz's central mobility hub and improved the quality of stay and safety in the station area.

Schiene OÖ will take over the operation of the infrastructure in the role of owner. By the end of 2030 at the latest, Eferding station is to be transformed into a modern mobility hub offering optimised transfer options to regional bus services, barrier-free access and upgraded safety technology.

Schiene OÖ implements Park & Ride (P+R) and Park & Drive (P+D) facilities. As the operator of the facilities in Freistadt Süd, Gaumberg and Trauner Kreuzung, Schiene OÖ is responsible for ongoing maintenance. This gives public transport users and commuters from neighbouring communities a high degree of flexibility in their mobility.

The construction of the Ried bus terminal by Schiene OÖ in 2019 created an efficient local transport hub for the district directly adjacent to the railway station. The Ried bus terminal connects 15 regional bus routes and a city bus with rail transport.

With the StadtRegioTram Traun, Rail Upper Austria has created a modern, attractive and efficient rail link to the Linz tram network from the south-west. It connects Leonding, Pasching and Traun with the provincial capital, making it an important milestone for public transport in the region. The second construction phase was opened in 2016.

Public transport services in Upper Austria are planned, evaluated, managed and improved by OÖVG. In doing so, it fulfils one of its most important and central tasks: to provide passengers with a reliable, high-quality public transport service.

With the OÖVV Routenplaner-App, the OÖVV Ticket-App and the wegfinder App, the OÖ Verkehrsverbund offers its passengers three app solutions to help them plan their routes, journeys and trips and purchase their tickets. With the app solutions and the web versions of the OÖVV route planner and the OÖVV ticket shop, the OÖVV is taking an important step towards digitalisation and customer friendliness. The implementation of an AI-based chatbot for customer support also contributes to this.

The OÖ Verkehrsverbund is working together with the province of Upper Austria to develop a strategy for MaaS and multimodal mobility for the province. The aim is to establish a network of different, demand-orientated, multimodal mobility services that are tailored to the respective needs of people in the region. The launch of the wegfinder App marked a milestone in the establishment of the first supra-regional "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS) platform in Austria.

The OÖ Verkehrsverbund plays an active role in developing a booking platform for all public transport in Austria, thereby contributing to a uniform distribution system for the whole of Austria. This means that all tickets and fare products for public transport in Austria are available in all distribution channels under the same conditions and can be billed together. At the same time, all service centres of all participating partners are available for all product enquiries.

The aim is also to continuously develop the fare products in regional public transport and adapt them to the needs of passengers, for example by further developing the KlimaTicket OÖ.

The OÖ Verkehrsverbund is heavily involved in the mobility of tomorrow. This encompasses the ongoing development of technologies in public transport, including topics such as alternative fuels, e-mobility and autonomous driving. The BUSTEC project, for example, is dedicated to the modernisation and standardisation of technical systems in regional bus transport in Upper Austria. In the AI4Sustainable Public Transport project, the Upper Austrian Transport Association is working together with the Software Competence Center Hagenberg on data-based recommendations for the optimisation of regional transport networks. Another current project is the BMIMI-funded research initiative MUST ("Multimodal traffic management through a combination of innovative communication channels") with the aim of improving the effect of traffic information on mobility behaviour and promoting multimodal route chains.
